Transport Tips
- 💡 Metro Line 2 is the backbone of Giza public transport. Buy a metro card for easier travel.
- 💡 Metro fares are cheap (~5–10 EGP per ride) but the system can be crowded during rush hour (7–9 AM, 4–7 PM).
- 💡 Women-only cars are available at the front of the train. Look for the pink signs on the platform.
- 💡 Microbuses are the fastest way to get around Giza but require some Arabic and local knowledge.
- 💡 Uber/Careem are the safest and most convenient options, especially at night or for women.
- 💡 The 6th October Monorail will be a game-changer for western Giza when it opens.
- 💡 Traffic in Giza is worst during rush hour. Plan trips accordingly.
- 💡 For airport trips, book Uber in advance or arrange a hotel transfer.
- 💡 Bicycle lanes are rare. Cycling is not recommended on major roads due to traffic.
- 💡 The future GEM metro station will make tourism much more accessible without cars.
