6th of October City
A planned city of industry, education, and affordable living. Western Giza's fastest-growing urban area.
About 6th of October
6th of October City is one of the largest planned cities in Egypt. Built on the desert plateau west of Cairo, it was established in 1979 to relieve population pressure on the capital and to create a dedicated zone for industry and modern residential development. Today, it is home to over 500,000 people and continues to grow rapidly.
The city has a dual identity. The eastern part is dominated by the Smart Village — Egypt's premier technology and business park — and the extensive industrial zone that houses factories, warehouses, and logistics centers. The western and central parts are residential, with a mix of government-planned numbered districts and private gated compounds.
What makes 6th October attractive is its affordability. Rent and property prices are significantly lower than in Sheikh Zayed or central Cairo, while the quality of housing is often comparable. For students, young professionals working in the Smart Village, and families looking for space on a budget, 6th October offers excellent value.
