From 1 November 2026 the Grand Egyptian Museum raises daytime gallery tickets across every published category. Al-Masry Al-Youm on 17 October and El Watan on 22 October print the pound table. Egyptian adult moves from EGP 200 to EGP 220. Egyptian child, student and senior move from EGP 100 to EGP 110. Foreign adult moves from EGP 1,570 to EGP 1,830. Foreign student and child move from EGP 790 to EGP 920. Resident adult moves from EGP 790 to EGP 920. Resident student and child move from EGP 400 to EGP 460. The ministry described the step as plus EGP 20 and plus USD 5. Until 31 October the old desk still applies. The museum is open.
Book only on tickets.gem.eg. GEM says it will not honour tickets bought anywhere else. The live shop on 16 October 2026 showed Egyptian adults at EGP 200, Egyptian children, students and seniors at EGP 100, and foreign adults at EGP 1,590. Arabic papers had also reprinted an older foreign figure of EGP 1,450 and a ministry foreign line of EGP 1,570. For visits through 31 October, pay the shop you are on. For visits from 1 November, budget the Al-Masry / El Watan table above until the card machine prints the new line.
What 1 November actually is
1 November 2025 was the official opening. Public days started 4 November 2025. The 2026 increase sits on that anniversary, which is why the board timed it for 1 November. It is a price change. GEM CEO Ahmed Ghoneim has talked about anniversary programming. He has not posted extra dates you can book as a separate product. Do not invent them.
The ticket you buy on tickets.gem.eg covers the Tutankhamun galleries, the main galleries, the Grand Hall, the Grand Stairs, Khufu's Boats Museum, the commercial area and the exterior gardens. It does not cover Fatma Said on 29 October, Gala de Danza on 5 November, or Eternal Sun night slots. Those are separate gates. Do not queue at the daytime ticket office with a recital QR, and do not expect a gallery pass to seat you after dark.
Guided tours from 1 November
Youm7 on 22 October 2026 posted a guided-tour product that starts 1 November. It is separate from the gallery ticket. Bring ID. Egyptian adult 24 and over is EGP 370. Egyptian child 6 to 12, student 13 to 24, and senior 60 and over is EGP 185. Foreign adult 24 and over is EGP 2,330. Foreign child and student is EGP 1,170. Resident adult is EGP 1,170. Resident child and student is EGP 590. Confirm the live tour SKU on tickets.gem.eg the morning you book. The newspaper table is the source we have. The shop is the till.
Hours that are live now
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: complex 08:30 to 19:00, galleries 09:00 to 18:00. Saturday and Wednesday: complex 08:30 to 22:00, galleries 09:00 to 21:00. Last entry is one hour before the galleries close. The Children's Museum is Sunday to Thursday 13:00 to 17:00, Friday and Saturday 10:00 to 17:00. Those clocks are on tickets.gem.eg. This Is Cairo's Arabic desk reprinted the same November pound table on 20 October. Hours are unchanged in that coverage.
Bring ID if you want a discounted or free category. Children under six, visitors with disabilities, ICOM members and Egyptian tour guides with a group are among the free lists. Some student and faculty exemptions skip Fridays and public holidays. Foreign spouses of Egyptians, and their children, can buy the Egyptian pass if they carry proof of the relationship. GEM staff will ask.
How to get there from Giza, not Tahrir
GEM sits on the Alexandria Desert Road, on the Giza Plateau side, next to the pyramids, not beside the old Egyptian Museum in Tahrir. From Faisal or Haram Street you are on the west bank already. From Mohandessin or Agouza, budget the ring road or the 26th of July corridor, then the desert road. Saturday late opening is the night the galleries run to 21:00. That is the slot if you want the Grand Stairs after work without buying a night-show ticket.
Outside food stays out. Bags over 40 by 40 centimetres go to the cloakroom. Tripods, selfie sticks, drones and flash are out of the galleries. Personal phone photos are allowed where the room signs allow them. Tickets are single entry, named, and not refundable once paid, except force majeure as GEM defines it.
